INVOCATION

HYMN OF PRAISE
“Family of God”

I’m so glad I’m a part
Of the fam’ly of God
I’ve been washed in the fountain
Cleansed by His blood
Joint heirs with Jesus
As we travel this sod
For I’m part of the fam’ly
The family of God

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

You shower blessings upon your Church, O Gracious One, and you call us to share in your generous work of reconciliation: Help us give generously and forgive willingly as instruments of your abundant love for all people.

          Make us willing instruments
Of your abundant love for all people.

Holy One, teach us to follow your path of nonviolence and to resist evildoers with mercy, that all people may refrain from anger, leave rage alone, and delight in the abundance of peace and reconciliation.

 Make us willing instruments
Of your abundant love for all people.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
AND RECONCILIATION
Brief silent consideration of how we have responded to our personal and congregational opportunities to do good, as we face ourselves honestly in the presence of the Almighty.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE
May Almighty God have mercy on us
to bless our good works
and forgive us our sins,
and lead us into everlasting life.

PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory,
for ever. Amen.

THE BIBLE READING
Links to multiple translations:
Philippians 1:21-30

21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;

26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.

27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

30 Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.

HYMN OF CELEBRATION

“Revive Us Again”

1. We praise Thee O God
For the Son of Thy love
For Jesus who died
And is now gone above

Chorus:
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Hallelujah amen
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Revive us again

2. We praise Thee O God
For Thy Spirit of light
Who has shown us our Savior
And scattered our night

Chorus:
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Hallelujah amen
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Revive us again

3. All glory and praise
To the Lamb that was slain
Who has borne all our sins
And has cleansed every stain

Chorus:
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Hallelujah amen
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Revive us again

4. All glory and praise
To the God of all grace
Who hast brought us, and sought us
And guided our ways.

Chorus:
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Hallelujah amen
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Revive us again

5. Revive us again
Fill each heart with Thy love
May each soul be rekindled
With fire from above

Chorus:
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Hallelujah amen
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Revive us again

PASSING THE PEACE

May the peace of Christ be with you all!
And also with you!

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

CONVERSATIONAL SERMON
Everyone is invited to share as the Pastor leads a discussion of these sermon points.
JUSTICE: Resist Bullying

Love your enemies even when they use bullying tactics.
Don’t be afraid of your enemies; always be courageous, and this will prove to them that they will lose and that you will win, because it is God who gives you the victory.   Vs 28 (GNT)

We’re going to better places in this life and in the life to come.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.   Vs 1 (KJV)

Stand for God’s love by implementing the tactics of Jesus.
Now, the important thing is that your way of life should be as the gospel of Christ requires. Vs 27 (GNT)

Those who believe in what Jesus is doing also do it his way.
For you have been given the privilege of serving Christ, not only by believing in him, but also by suffering for him. Vs 29 (GNT)

Many others have gone through similar difficulties for Christ.
You’re involved in the same kind of struggle you saw me go through,     Vs 30a (MSG)

INVITATION TO CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP
The Altar in our hearts is always open

HYMN OF DEDICATION
“Together We Serve”

Together we serve united by love
Inviting God’s world to the glorious feast
We work and we pray through sorrow and joy
Extending Your love to the last and the least

We seek to become a beacon of hope
A lamp for the heart and a light for the feet
We learn year by year to let love shine through
Until we see Christ in each person we meet

We welcome the scarred the wealthy the poor
The busy the lonely and all who need care
We offer a home to those who will come
Our hands quick to help our hearts ready to dare

Together by grace we witness and work
Remembering Jesus in whom we grow strong
Together we serve in Spirit and truth
Remembering love is the strength of our song
