HYMN OF PRAISE
“Family of God”

I’m so glad I’m a part
Of the fam’ly of God
I’ve been washed in the fountain
Cleansed by His blood
Joint heirs with Jesus
As we travel this sod
For I’m part of the fam’ly
The family of God

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

You have freed and empowered your Church and stirred us to action in your loving name: Let the peoples praise you, O God, that we may spread your light and your healing presence throughout the world.

Let your ways be known upon earth,
your saving health among all nations!

You bless the world with the light of your countenance: Empower us with your vision, O God, that we may speak to others of your goodness and grace and may draw them into your community.

Let your ways be known upon earth,
your saving health among all nations!

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
AND RECONCILIATION
Brief silent consideration of how we have responded to our personal and congregational opportunities to do good, as we face ourselves honestly in the presence of the Almighty.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE
May Almighty God have mercy on us
to bless our good works
and forgive us our sins,
and lead us into everlasting life.

PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory,
for ever. Amen.

THE BIBLE READING
Links to multiple translations:
Matthew 22:36-40

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

HYMN OF CELEBRATION
“Revive Us Again”

1. We praise Thee O God
For the Son of Thy love
For Jesus who died
And is now gone above

Chorus:
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Hallelujah amen
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Revive us again

2. We praise Thee O God
For Thy Spirit of light
Who has shown us our Savior
And scattered our night

Chorus:
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Hallelujah amen
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Revive us again

3. All glory and praise
To the Lamb that was slain
Who has borne all our sins
And has cleansed every stain

Chorus:
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Hallelujah amen
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Revive us again

4. All glory and praise
To the God of all grace
Who hast brought us, and sought us
And guided our ways.

Chorus:
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Hallelujah amen
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Revive us again

5. Revive us again
Fill each heart with Thy love
May each soul be rekindled
With fire from above

Chorus:
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Hallelujah amen
Hallelujah Thine the glory
Revive us again

PASSING THE PEACE

May the peace of Christ be with you all!
And also with you!

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

CONVERSATIONAL SERMON
Everyone is invited to share as the Pastor leads a discussion of these sermon points.
JUSTICE: Love is the Law

Just laws are based on and interpreted by love
The whole Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets depend on these two commandments.  Matthew 22:40 (GNT)

God is love
Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God… God is love.  1 John 4:7-8 (MSG)

Love defines discipleship
This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other. John 13:35 (MSG)

God requires justice, love, and humbleness
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously—
take God seriously.   Micah 6:8 (MSG)

Love encompasses all just laws
For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.   Galatians 5:14 (NIV)

INVITATION TO CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP
The Altar in our hearts is always open

HYMN OF DEDICATION
“Together We Serve”

Together we serve united by love
Inviting God’s world to the glorious feast
We work and we pray through sorrow and joy
Extending Your love to the last and the least

We seek to become a beacon of hope
A lamp for the heart and a light for the feet
We learn year by year to let love shine through
Until we see Christ in each person we meet

We welcome the scarred the wealthy the poor
The busy the lonely and all who need care
We offer a home to those who will come
Our hands quick to help our hearts ready to dare

Together by grace we witness and work
Remembering Jesus in whom we grow strong
Together we serve in Spirit and truth
Remembering love is the strength of our song
