PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

Gracious One, you have made your Church to be a kingdom of priests to serve our God: Bless all who minister in your name, that we may extend your gift of forgiveness to all creation, and through believing, may have life in your name.

          Let everything that has breath praise God.   Hallelujah!

Loving One, you are in the midst of us in this community and you
invite us to welcome and include as friends those who have not yet experienced the reality of Christ’s risen life: Help us to offer our acceptance and love to all of our neighbors, that we may be a community of reconciliation and peace.

 Let everything that has breath praise God.   Hallelujah!

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
AND RECONCILIATION
Brief silent consideration of how we have responded to our personal and congregational opportunities to do good, as we face ourselves honestly in the presence of the Almighty.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE
May Almighty God have mercy on us
to bless our good works
and forgive us our sins,
and lead us into everlasting life.

PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory,
for ever. Amen.

THE BIBLE READING
Links to multiple translations:
1 Thessalonians 1:1-10

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.

For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost.

So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.

For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.

For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail
By the living Word of God I shall prevail
Standing on the promises of God

Perfect present cleansing in the blood for me
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free
