INVOCATION

HYMN OF PRAISE
“Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”

Joyful joyful we adore Thee
God of Glory Lord of Love
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee
Opening to the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness
Drive the dark of doubt away
Giver of immortal gladness
Fill us with the light of day

All Thy works with joy surround Thee
Earth and heaven reflect Thy rays
Stars and angels sing around Thee
Center of unbroken praise
Field and forest vale and mountain
Flowery meadow flashing sea
Chanting bird and flowing fountain
Call us to rejoice in Thee

Thou art giving and forgiving
Ever blessing ever blest
Wellspring of the joy of living
Ocean depth of happy rest
Thou our Father Christ our Brother
All who live in love are Thine
Teach us how to love each other
Lift us to the joy divine

Mortals join the mighty chorus
Which the morning stars began
Father love is reigning o’er us
Brother love binds man to man
Ever singing march we onward
Victors in the midst of strife
Joyful music lifts us sunward
In the triumph song of life

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

Ever-present One, pour out your Spirit upon all flesh and let the Holy Comforter bring healing and peace to all who live with illness, suffering, oppression, or injustice.

          Like a wildfire,
the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks.

Ever-near One, let your deeds of power be with us in this community, that your children may prophesy, your young people see visions, and your elder people dream dreams.

 Like a wildfire,
the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks.
 (Acts 2:3 MSG)

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
AND RECONCILIATION
Brief silent consideration of how we have responded to our personal and congregational opportunities to do good, as we face ourselves honestly in the presence of the Almighty.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE
May Almighty God have mercy on us
to bless our good works
and forgive us our sins,
and lead us into everlasting life.

PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory,
for ever. Amen.

THE BIBLE READING
Links to multiple translations:
Philippians 4:1-9

1  Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you

HYMN OF CELEBRATION
“The Lord’s My Shepherd”

The Lord’s my Shepherd
I’ll not want
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green
He leadeth me the quiet waters by

My soul He doth restore again
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness
E’en for His own Name’s sake

Yea though I walk through death’s dark vale
Yet will I fear none ill
For Thou art with me and Thy rod
And staff me comfort still

My table Thou has furnished
In presence of my foes
My head Thou dost with oil anoint
And my cup overflows

Goodness and mercy all of my life
Shall surely follow me
And in God’s house for evermore
My dwelling place shall be

JUSTICE: Think About Heaven

Think on these things
Finally, [brothers and sisters], whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.   Vs 8 (KJV)

Stand firm
This, dear friends, is how you should stand firm in your life in the Lord.    Vs 1 (GNT)

Rejoice always
May you always be joyful in your union with the Lord. I say it again: rejoice!  Vs 4 (GNT)

 Pray gratefully
Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart.  Vs 6 (GNT)

Peace
God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.   Vs 9 (MSG)

INVITATION TO CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP
The Altar in our hearts is always open

HYMN OF DEDICATION
“Together We Serve”

Together we serve united by love
Inviting God’s world to the glorious feast
We work and we pray through sorrow and joy
Extending Your love to the last and the least

We seek to become a beacon of hope
A lamp for the heart and a light for the feet
We learn year by year to let love shine through
Until we see Christ in each person we meet

We welcome the scarred the wealthy the poor
The busy the lonely and all who need care
We offer a home to those who will come
Our hands quick to help our hearts ready to dare

Together by grace we witness and work
Remembering Jesus in whom we grow strong
Together we serve in Spirit and truth
Remembering love is the strength of our song
