Maundy Thursday and Good Friday

Interactive liturgies of worship will be celebrated at 6:00 pm on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. The Virtual Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated Thursday as authorized by Bishop McAlilly for use during the Corona crisis, and also on Easter Sunday.

We offer to the Lord our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness, together with the elements each brings to their table for consecration to be for each of us the body and blood of Christ.

Participants may provide their own grape juice and bread, or
what they feel is an acceptable substitution, maintaining integrity
with the elements according to their personal circumstances.

Worship Service Notice

Bishop McAlilly has advised all the churches of our conference to suspend our worship services through at least Palm Sunday on April 12 and to offer other ways to practice and sustain our faith.

We will offer an online opportunity so we can be open and able to share by phone and video.

Giving Tree

A “Blessing Box” will be built by the big old tree at church, newly named “The Giving Tree” by our congregation last Sunday. The unanimous decision to add this project came after several uplifting testimonies about similar blessing boxes at other churches in our community and across the country. Everyone will be free to share food staples on the honor system of “Take what you need and bring what you can.”

Congregational Dialogue Sermon

“The Ministry of All Christians” is the Laity Sunday sermon topic for October 20, corresponding with the denominational theme for Laity Sunday, “Therefore, Go! With HOPE through PURPOSE.”

The Bible Reading is from 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. “All of you are Christ’s body, and each one is a part of it.” (1 Cor. 12:27 GNT). Three people will lead the dialogue on the points of the discussion:

1. Matthew 5:14 — Ways we embody the light of Christ in our congregation.

2. 1 Corinthians 12:12 — Ways our congregation works for justice.

3. 1 Peter 2:9 — Ways our congregation encourages people to use the means of grace, especially regular prayer, study, worship, and service
